Course Description
This is a one-year college-prep course in Geometry. Successful completion of Algebra 1 or Algebra 1B is a prerequisite for Geometry. This course is open to grades 9-12. Credits: 5 per semester
In geometry, students learn to use deductive logic to write mathematical proofs through the study of a variety of topics, including: congruent segments and angles, circles, parallel and perpendicular lines, and polygon congruence and similarity. Students will use and prove the Pythagorean Theorem, learn about geometric constructions, coordinate geometry, basic trigonometry, and will compute the surface area and volume of solids.
