Course Description
This is a one-year college-prep course in advanced Algebra. This course is open to grades 9-12. Successful completion of Geometry is a prerequisite. Credits: 5 per semester
This course expands on the mathematical content of Algebra I and Geometry. Many new concepts and techniques are introduced that will be basic to more advanced courses in mathematics and sciences. In general terms, the emphasis is on abstract thinking, the “function concept”, and the algebraic solution of problems in various content areas. Specific content includes further study of absolute value equations and inequalities, complex numbers, polynomials and rational expressions, the quadratic function, logarithms, arithmetic and geometric series and binomial theorem.
