ECMC College Night
Over 200 students and parents participated in the ECMC College Night on October 28th. The event provided information on financial aid, college choices, scholarships and what to expect while attending college!
Three $500 college scholarships were awarded by random drawing. The winners were: Lisette Chavez, Lucas Wright and Steven Xiong.

JROTC Food Drive
The JROTC program will be hosting a campus wide food drive in support of the Rio Linda/Elverta food closet (October 20-November 13).
Donations are to made in the classrooms. The class with the most donations at the end of the drive will receive a first prize gift from the Rio Linda/Elverta Chamber of Commerce in the form of a $75 dollar check.
PSAT School Day
The TRUSD offered the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) to all 9th, 10th, and 11th greade students this week. The PSAT is a standardized test that gives practice for the SAT and other exams. It is designed to identify opportunities for growth, and provides feedback to help students improved their skills.
While the PSAT is not an exact replica of the SAT, it serves as an excellent introduction to the test because questions are similar

New Wednesday Schedule
Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, all Twin Rivers students will start school at the same time every day and will be released two hours early every Wednesday. The change to Professional Learning Time (PLT) Early Release Wednesday (formerly Late Start Wednesday) will help the district achieve its goal of increasing student academic achievement.

Attention Knight’s Sports Fans!
Knight’s Cards are good for all home/regular season athletic events. The first card is $30 and each additional card is $25. A Knights Card can be purchased in the Student Center.

Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience.

RLHS Gives Back
On Sunday, October 18th, students from the Green Club participated in the "Making Strides of Sacramento" to the State Capitol. The walk was to support Breast Cancer research and the American Cancer Society.
Last weekend, students from the Green Club, DECA Business CTSO (Career Technical Student Organization), and the Key Club participated in the "Dixeanne Hallow-Clean Up Event" in Sacramento. The event was sponsored by Vice Mayor Allen Warren, the City of Sacramento, Atlas Disposal, Republic Services & the Del Paso Blvd. Partnership.

Business Students Attend Leadership Conferences
The RLHS Business students participated in Leadership Development Conferences.
The Virtual Enterprise Entrepreneurship participated in one-day conference at the Solano Community College in Fairfield, CA. The students learned more about entrepreneurship, writing a business plan, teamwork, and leadership.
The DECA, a Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) attended a two-day conference in San Ramon, CA. The business students learned to network, etiquette, leadership, teamwork, communication and employability skills.
